2nd edition


Seminar in Germany and Poland for multiplicators from Poland Germany and Israel “Who saves one life, saves the entire world” – attitudes of Righteous as examples of civil courage and commitment for peace.

August 4th – August 17th 2006 (Berlin, Wrocław)

Main aim: To present stories of Righteous using art (theatre, sound, pictures)

Content: Twenty-one young people from Poland, Germany and Israel took part in this seminar. To link the different editions of the project, the content was prepared also by participants from the 1st edition. The task in the 2nd edition however, was to express the experiences from meeting Righteous and seeing historical places through art. The participants were working in 3 workshop groups: 1) the Photo group prepared an exhibition: “From Darkness into Light” and a slideshow from the project; 2) the Radio group created a radio feature based on interviews with Righteous and survivors recorded during the project (also with Jarosława Wołosiańska; 3) the Theatre group prepared a performance: “Mask in Society”. All the results were presented in the White Stork Synagogue (Wrocław) on the 16th of August 2006.

Seminar in Israel.

April 2007 (Tel Aviv, Jerusalem)

Main aim: To collect documents and record interviews with people saved by the Wołosiański couple

Content: During the seminar the group met again in order to find out more about the story of Jarosława and Izydor Wołosiański. The participants interviewed four people, who were hiding as children in the basement of Wołosiańskis’ house: Shuly Alexander, Stella Arad, Arieh Nativ and Hadassa Wygodny. Apart from those moving meetings they visited schools on the Holocaust Memorial Day, had the honor to meet Miriam Akavia and lit a candle under the Wołosiańskis’ tree in the Avenue of Righteous.
